Q.Late Season & Post-Rut
How do I hunt food sources in late season?
A.
Hunt the upwind/access edge of the food source with quiet entry and exit. Cold fronts produce the most reliable evening sits — deer come to feed while temperatures are still tolerable. Avoid disturbing the food source itself; if deer get bumped off a late-season food, they may not return.
The single biggest mistake is over-hunting a single food plot. Rotate sits across multiple food sources and hunt each one only on cold-front days when conditions favor daylight movement.
See state late-season dates and current mast reports for the regional food picture.
