What drives the rut here
Virginia rut timing is driven primarily by photoperiod, which is why peak conception lands in roughly the same mid-November window across the state. Zone-to-zone variation is small but real — Tidewater bucks tend to peak slightly earlier than mountain bucks because of micro-habitat and herd structure differences.
