Q.Food Plot Planning

What food plot attracts the biggest bucks?

A.

Mature bucks aren't pulled to food plots more than other deer — they're pulled to does on food plots, especially during the rut. The most consistent mature-buck encounters happen on plots that hold doe family groups: clover for spring through fall, brassicas for late season. Plot SPECIES matters less than plot LOCATION near doe bedding.

Stand placement on the upwind/access side of a clover field that does feed in produces evening rut hunts every season. Brassicas pull both does and bucks during late-season cold snaps when calorie demand is highest.

For consistent mature-buck encounters, focus less on the magic-plot-species question and more on how to place plots near bedding, control wind, and minimize disturbance. Crop calendars cover plot establishment.
