What drives the rut here
Whitetail in Colorado are concentrated along the eastern plains river systems (South Platte, Arkansas, Republican drainages). The rest of the state is mule deer country with a separate, earlier rut window. Whitetail peak conception clusters in the second half of November in the river-bottom habitat. Colorado Parks and Wildlife publishes deer-program data covering both species.
